What You'll Do

. Your primary challenge will be designing a resilient, secure architecture while setting the technical cadence and best practices for the entire development lifecycle. You will drive the overarching technical strategy, blending the contributions of human engineering talent with autonomous AI code-generation frameworks. Deep security architecture across the platform is owned in partnership with our Cybersecurity Architect; your responsibility here is implementing secure-by-default engineering practice within that framework, not defining it independently.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

You will contribute to a broad and exciting set of responsibilities, including:

System Architecture & Technical Roadmap

Design and scale a highly reliable distributed platform for real-time video streaming, WebRTC, telemetry data and remote command execution, ensuring architectural integrity across all platform contributions.

Workflow Orchestration

Establish the development workflows, delegate architectural components, and conduct rigorous code reviews to maintain quality across human-authored and AI-generated codebases.

AI-Driven Frontend Infrastructure

Establish the prompting infrastructure and pipelines allowing AI agents to dynamically build and iterate responsive React front-end dashboards.

Secure Engineering Practice

Implement authentication flows, secure coding standards, and API security practices as defined by our Cybersecurity Architect, ensuring the platform meets the security bar set at the architecture level.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: 5+ years driving complex engineering initiatives, elevating the technical output of surrounding developers, with high comfort piloting AI-assisted development tools.

Technical Skills

Backend & Cloud: Deep expertise in backend ecosystems (e.g., Node.js, Go, Rust, Python) and distributed message brokers (gRPC, MQTT, Kafka, WebSockets).
Frontend Mastery: Strong grasp of modern web frameworks like React alongside experience integrating LLM outputs into production environments.
Security Awareness: Working knowledge of secure coding practice and identity management (OAuth/OIDC); deep security architecture expertise is not required for this role.

Mindset & Soft Skills

Excellent problem-solving, debugging and analytical skills.
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Curiosity, creativity and a drive to push boundaries in robotics.

WHO IS THIS ROLE FOR

You've architected and scaled distributed, real-time platforms (streaming, telemetry, remote command systems), robotics domain experience is not required.
You're genuinely comfortable directing AI coding agents as part of your workflow, not just using autocomplete.
You want ownership over a platform's technical direction, not just a ticket queue.

Who This Role Is Not Primarily For

This role is not a dedicated security architecture position (see the separate Cybersecurity Architect role for that), nor is it primarily a robotics/controls engineering role. Candidates from a pure security-architecture background should be directed to that role instead.

LOCATION, WORKING MODEL & PRATICAL DETAILS

Location: Viseu, Portugal. On-site, Monday–Friday, with a genuine flexible-hours culture (no time-tracking). Remote considered only case-by-case for exceptional candidates.
Visa: EU/EEA candidates only at this time; unable to sponsor visas outside the EU.
Language: English required; team is transitioning to full-English operation.
Relocation: Practical support available (visa guidance, help finding accommodation, contract translation); does not cover flights or full relocation costs.
